We've got a chair in our living room which had a wonderful off white upholstery. At first only my husband and I sat in this chair - reading a good book or a magazine. But then the kids conquered it and they didn't care for the white textile. They played outside - barefoot of course - and then put their feet on my chair. Over the years the white turned into an ugly brown-grey... And the cat was even worse. She used the chair as her personal means of blackmail... If nobody came to open the door for her when she wanted to take a walk, she stepped towards our chair, looked at us as if saying "And now? Hurry up and open the door for me or I will destroy your chair!", then she only hesitated for an instant and sharpened her claws!!! I couldn't stand this ugly chair any more and decided, that it needed "new clothes". Two weeks later it came back and now I've got a grey chair. It fits perfectly to the nearby dining room with its grey wallpainting and I thought that you won't see every spot on it... But a little bit of color was necessary and so I decided to sew a new pillow for the "new" chair.
As log cabin blocks are my favorite quilt blocks at the moment, I used the bubbles pattern from Aylin for my pillow.
The chair was still away for the new upholstery and I wasn't sure, whether the grey fabric I've chosen would fit. So I decided to make a red piping as a kind of buffer between the different fabrics of chair and pillow:
For that reason I rounded the corners - which also fits good to the circle quilting. A hidden zipper at the back is my favorite way of closing a pillow:
The pillow is now on the chair and the cat loves it too. But she isn't any longer allowed to stay in the living room without one of us - we are closing the doors during the night now... Poor cat!
Mal sehen, ob ich jetzt endlich meinen kleinen Log Cabin Wandbehang fertig bekomme :-)
Perhaps I will be able to finish my other log cabin project now :-)
But it might be that I get distracted again, because there's a new blog hop - against november depression :-)
Schaut doch mal vorbei, was es da so gibt:
