Meadowland Quilt

You can see it everywhere on Instagram - the Meadowland Quilt.

It seems everyone is sewing a Meadowland Quilt and there's even a quiltalong starting - isn't it today? I too fell in love with this pattern and when thinking about new projects for 2019 I knew that I had to sew a Meadowland Quilt. But I decided to do it in a kind of swap-way. I'm exchanging blocks with two other fabulous quilters. One in Switzerland and one in Austria - Barbara and Michaela. Each of us chose her color combination and from January on we are swapping blocks every month. I'm sewing one for Barbara in her colors and getting one in return in my colors, doing the same with Michi in Austria. So each of us will sew three blocks every month, keep one and send the others two away - and receive two blocks in return. The wonderful thing about swapping blocks is the fact, that you get such a variety in the fabrics. The others have different fabrics in their stash and I think this makes such a quilt special.

Aber genug erzählt - jetzt müssen Bilder her. Mit wem fange ich an? Michi:

But let's not talk too much - let's have a look at some pictures. I'm starting with Michi:

Michi chose the colors berry - turquoise - chartreuse and a light grey for the background. Well, not really easy for me (and my stash :-) ) The block I sewed seems to be lighter than those of the others, so for February I tried it this way:

The block is already on it's way to Austria. I hope it fits. Here on the pictures it's difficult to see the right colors. But I think the blocks will look great together in the end :-)

Barbara wollte gerne Hellblau - Dunkelblau - Rosa, dazu ein bisschen Mint. Und den Hintergrund in Low Volumes. Das war ihr "Probeblock"

Barbara asked for a light blue - a dark blue - pink and maybe some aqua. Low volumes for the background. This was her first block:

und das mein Januar Block für sie:

and this was my January block for her:

My February block for her is on the way to Switzerland. This time I used some aqua fabric:

Ich glaube, das wird richtig gut :-)

I think this will be wonderful :-)

And my own blocks and colors? Well - colors may not be the right word for this :-) I chose black - grey - taupe and white as a background. These were my first blocks:

Barbara and Michi made these two beauties for me:

Richtig schön! Richtig edel!

So wonderful! So precious! I am over the moon that the two ladies decided to swap blocks with me!
Of course I already finished my February block and the one from Michi is also already here (middle row on the right). Doesn't this look fantastic?

Sewing these blocks is so much fun and looking at all the wonderful versions on Instagram is fun too! Look out for all the fabulous blocks and quilts that will be made now during the quiltalong.

Have a great week. Here the sun is shining and the snow melts. It's definitely spring :-)
